Where to Host a Winery Wedding in Minnesota

Q. I like the idea of hosting my wedding at a winery, but want to stay in Minnesota. Any suggestions for great local winery venues?

A. Winery weddings in Minnesota provide the unique location and intimate feel of a destination wedding without the expense or travel time.

Michelle Bailly, event coordinator at the 160-acre Carlos Creek Winery in Alexandria, just two hours from the Twin Cities, says the busiest season for winery weddings is May to October, calling harvest season in September “especially spectacular.” Winter dates are also available, when you’ll find beautiful photo opps in frosted vineyards.

With a winery wedding, you and your guests can take full advantage of your surroundings. Venues such as Carlos Creek offer plenty of picturesque event spaces, from the grand to the intimate. The entire dinner menu can be paired with wine from the vineyard, and many couples opt to include a wine tasting as part of their social hour. Guests can also take tours of the winery and wander the beautiful grounds.
