Shelby & Jason

May 14, 2011 at the Historic Concord Exchange in St. Paul

Jason Holmertz spotted Shelby Martin from afar during their freshman year of college. Months before they’d even met, he referred to her as “the One.” They became friends, but it wasn’t until Shelby returned from a sophomore year abroad that she realized that her feelings for Jason had deepened. Several years later, Shelby was planning a Minnesota wedding from Illinois, with a lot of help from her mother, who tirelessly investigated local products and venues that had caught Shelby’s eye in magazines and online. Shelby had her heart set on a certain style of necklaces for her bridesmaids, and when she couldn’t track them down, she and Jason’s mother decided to make them. Novice necklace-makers, they miscalculated the weight of the materials, and before long, beads were scattered across the dance floor! Nonetheless, the day came together beautifully. Even Jason’s brother, who’s in the Army, flew home to attend.
