Shanna & Ali

April 24, 2010 at Calhoun Beach Club in Minneapolis

Coincidence? When Shanna Colleen Miller and Ali Hussein Shouman met at the gym she was reading The Celestine Prophesy, a book about how coincidences are not really coincidences, but that everything happens for a reason. He read it and they talked. A month later she was still reading it and they talking again. The next month? Another chat. Finally they exchanged names, went out and eventually Ali was planning an Easter-time proposal around Lake Nokomis. While running around the lake on a perfect 70-degree April day, they stumbled across a trail of Easter eggs that led to a park bench full of flowers, a chocolate bunny and champagne. That’s where Ali dropped to one knee. Then this April, the couple married with a mid-day celebration (ceremony at 11, reception until 3) with family and friends. The big day was not without a few mishaps though, including a sick hairdresser, a forgotten groom’s shirt, vows left at home and a ceremony crasher: a little old lady Shanna teaches water aerobics to and her 90 year old boyfriend!
