Nicole & Jim

June 25, 2011 at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis

For Nicole and Jim, the Walker Art Center was an obvious place for a wedding, given their interest in modern art and architecture. Nicole’s 9-year-old brother made a secret costume change during the reception, reappearing in the guise of Batman. (Weeks later, he was still pretty sure most of the guests never guessed his true identity.) The menu featured several vegetarian items as a nod to the couple’s dietary orientation, and an elaborate dessert buffet. Strong supporters of equal marriage rights, Nicole and Jim were thrilled to realize that their wedding date coincided with the Twin Cities’ GLBT PRIDE Festival, going on across the street from the Walker at Loring Park. Says Nicole, “It was great to see the energy and crowds of people gathering for equality on our wedding day.”
