Lisa Venne and Sean McCaffrey met in the dorms at the University of Minnesota, and in a storybook boy-meets-girl instant, they clicked. The couple dated throughout college, and it was on one seemingly ordinary spring evening that Sean popped the question. Without hesitation, Lisa said yes, and the pair decided to celebrate their special day in Minneapolis, the city that brought them together. They selected a venue that would combine the city’s contemporary and historic elements, and they turned to family members and local talent to make the event more meaningful. Lisa’s brother created the wedding invitations, and a local designer fashioned the bridesmaids’ skirts. The bride and her mom, meanwhile, took on the mission of visiting multiple antique shops in search of unique bric-a-brac, novelty items and opaque milk-glass vases to adorn the tables at the reception. Throughout the night, guests drank in the details: a fresh sky-blue and lime-green color scheme, a white buttercream cake studded with strawberries, and kisses on the sly that the groom bestowed upon his beautiful bride.
