Kali & Eric
Oct. 23, 2010 with a ceremony at Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church and reception at Graves 601 Hotel, both in Minneapolis.
When Kali Harrison and Eric Nygren were introduced in college, neither realized that they had met before—and under less than romantic circumstances. At summer camp in fifth grade, Kali made the unfortunate discovery that someone had left a dead chipmunk outside her cabin door. Turns out the culprit was Eric, and years later he still has the photo to prove it. Suffice it to say, things could only go uphill from there. Their wedding was designed around a theme of circles, which appeared everywhere, from the appliqués on Kali’s bodice to the round photo reels of the View-Master invitations. Dance floor highlights included a choreographed father/daughter hip-hop number and a Michael Bublé song that Eric had secretly recorded for the first dance. Putting a creative spin on the traditional wedding cake, they opted instead for individual cakes for each table, playfully accompanied by shot glasses of milk.
