Sept. 18, 2010 at the bride's family home

For their September wedding, Jennifer Seward and Andrew Beckman kept the celebration close to home. Actually, at home—a Victorian brick farmhouse, built in 1880, to be exact. Jennifer’s family home, the Hobnail Farm, hosts not only many of her childhood memories, but now has hosted her wedding. The ceremony took place in the yard surrounded with eclectic gardens, where guests sat comfortably on hay bale pews. Later, guests were treated to cocktail hour held in the barn and silo, where the bar was made from old wooden doors and a buffet from chicken perches. For a sweet treat, guests made fresh apple cider from the family’s old-fashioned cider press. Then when the dinner bell rang, Jennifer and Andrew greeted guests—aprons and all—to serve them soup into a bread bowl. To end the night, guests danced and gathered around a giant bonfire, with their bellies still full from the variety of homemade desserts, including red velvet cheesecake and raspberry pie.
