Jena Palmersheim and Richard Plekkenpol met in high school, but didn’t start dating until college. They got engaged on a romantic weekend getaway in Stillwater, sealing the deal on a relationship defined by laughter and an ability to just be themselves. The wedding was officiated by Jena’s father’s cousin, a priest who also married Jena’s parents and baptized both Jena and her sister. They were wed in the same church where her parents had been married, creating a meaningful connection across the generations. A party-bus ride from the church to the reception provided the couple with a chance to celebrate with their closest friends before joining up with the rest of the guests. Because Richard isn’t a huge fan of desserts but loves candy, they created a candy bar filled with their favorite varieties for the guests to snack on.
