Heidi & Dave
Dec. 20, 2008 at Church of St. Peter Heritage Center in Mendota
Heidi Savage and Dave Onken believe faith can move mountains. They also know it can bridge the Atlantic Ocean. The two met in 2004 and briefly dated in 2005 before Heidi’s work with a Christian ministry organization took her to France. The pair reconnected in December 2007, and things clicked. Dave proposed in July 2008, and the couple chose Dec. 20 as their wedding date. With Heidi abroad until late October, the pair turned to “I Do” Wedding Design and Heidi’s mom, Linda, who owns Class Act Catering and Floral, to plan the event in just five months. A heavy snowstorm did not deter the joyful couple, who exchanged vows before 275 guests. Heidi’s uncle conducted the personal ceremony, which featured readings in English and French. The bride wore a beaded Catherine La Croix gown from Brides of France and custom cape lined with magenta satin to match the Alexia dresses from The Wedding Shoppe worn by her seven bridesmaids. A lush bouquet designed by the bride’s mother and lime-green stationery designed by the bride provided the perfect splash of contrast. In 2010, the newlyweds will say “bonjour” to a new home in Paris.
