Ella & Pete

Sept. 17, 2011 at Mill City Museum in Minneapolis

Outside of a classroom, where does a pair of 16 year olds meet? At camp, of course. While at their northern Minnesota camp, Pete Daniels let Ella Brown borrow his headphones, introducing her to Van Morrison's music along the way. It wasn't until six years later, while finishing college at the University of Puget Sound, that the two began dating though. Flash forward to a sunny fall day in Washington D.C., when Pete proposed as they toured the rose garden at the White House. That led to 200 friends and family members gathering at Mill City Museum for an all-inclusive affair: an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour and indoor reception. With the help of Mi Mi Design, the dinner and decor took an "upscale picnic" approach, with guests indulging in comfort food—fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, green beans, walleye sliders—family-style. All the while Ella kept her "something old" and "something blue" close to her heart—a turquoise necklace Ella's father gave to her mother in the 70's.
