Anna & Ted

July 9, 2011 with a ceremony at Christ Lutheran Church in Marine on Saint Croix and reception at Withrow Ballroom in Hugo

Though they no longer live in Minnesota, Anna Harrington and Ted Keefe planned their wedding to celebrate the state, which is, in Anna’s words, “where our hearts are.” They chose shades of green as their colors, and worked with a rustic theme that they dubbed “Pine Tree Elegance.” The music, an eclectic mix performed by talented friends and family members, included Donovan’s Catch the Wind, with lyrics personalized by the couple, and Mendelssohn’s Wedding March on accordion. Instead of the traditional father-of-the-bride speech, Anna’s dad taught the audience a song that he’d written for Anna when she was a little girl. Once the guests had the words down, he led them all in song, providing banjo accompaniment. For their first dance, the couple gave a musical nod to the state they love, with Prince’s Raspberry Beret.
