Abby & Santiago

Oct. 16, 2010 at International Market Square in Minneapolis

Abby Tankenoff and Santiago Merea both signed up for eHarmony on an impulse. Living in Washington, D.C., at the time, neither was looking to settle down, but both were curious about what a computer-generated relationship algorithm might yield. Even though they hailed from different countries (he’s from Argentina, she’s a Minnesotan), they discovered a personal connection: He had been classmates with Abby’s brother in a master’s program at the U of M years before. Santiago proposed during a lightning storm and, before long, friends and family were flying in from around the world to celebrate. The Argentinian guests brought their tradition of throwing the groom and various family members into the air, and the group danced long into the night, aided by Santi and the Sevilles. Impressively, the bride kept her Louboutins on the whole time, even after leading two conga lines.
