Ode to Eire: A St. Patrick's Day Styled Shoot

From the photographer:

Our theme honors the heritage of the Emerald Isle with a styled shoot that brings a modern edge to the ancestral nostalgia that so many of the region joyfully celebrate. We included delightful details that are a nod to the history and traditions brought with the Irish immigrants that settled here, including colors of the Irish flag, Celtic knots and crosses, a horseshoe for good luck, and even a marriage certificate of one vendor’s grandparents who “came across the pond” and were married in America.

Paper Thick Ink played upon that bit of history with an invitation baring the names of the couple who were wed in 1932.

The lovely, bright space of The Blaisdell, freshly remodeled, was the perfect setting for our inspiration; a blending of historical architecture and romance of the manor updated with modern choices in finishes and furnishings. Staff at The Blaisdell were busy in preparation for their Ballroom Reveal Celebration (on March 17th!) but welcomed us with the hospitality of the Irish and made us feel at home while we played with beauty in their sunlit parlor.

Ask for the Moon events had the day planned perfectly, we moved smoothly between vignettes and details, enjoying laughter and wit, and stories of our own family’s histories and heritage.

Décor and floral by Positively Charmed and rentals by Rudy’s Event Rentals were selected to suit the modern edge of the venue and theme, with black finishes, reflective glass & mixed metals…yet the delicately etched crystal, moss & ferns, and plenty of candlelight brought a nuanced softness.

Emeline O’Hara, our bridal model, wore the dreamy and demure dress named Terrell from the Modehaus You Are My Muse SS 2018 collection. The silk gown with bishop sleeves, flowing skirt, and timeless detail is available in the Modehaus atelier. Emeline’s makeup and hair styling was done with a delicate and playful touch of spring pinks and oranges by SM Hair + Makeup. SM also did hair and makeup for our groom.Tyler Stamm stepped in as our groom and wore a perfectly textured grey suit from Savvi Formalwear. Both models are involved in the theater and film scene in the Twin Cities, and they were a perfect pair, representing our second-generation Irish newlyweds.

Copper Hen Cakery & Kitchen provided a gorgeous chocolate and buttercream cake. It had a lustrous understated brush of gold leaf paired lightly with fern and bright ranunculus.

The collaboration was captured through the lens of Jeannine Marie Photography. Her imaginative eye for detail, skill at finding amazing angles, and dynamic framing are evident in this collection of images. Her energy is contagious, and these photos reflect that influence.
