Four Voices String Quartet
There are moments when you want everything to be just right. Your wedding is one of these rare times. You want the music to be inseparable from the occasion, lifting the day beyond the ordinary. This is what we do at the Four Voices String Quartet. For us, it is about great music played well. It's about the heart of the reason people gather -- to celebrate. Daily, we hone our craft as musicians. We have also worked to master the art of music design. We will guide you to setting the perfect theme for everything that is heard and felt. If you sense we are passionate about what we do, you're right. It's because we truly love creating those moments that are spectacular, wonderful, perfect.
What to know about working with Four Voices: While we know weddings incredibly well, we don’t (yet) know you. And the real key to a great wedding is that it reflects you and your dreams for the day. Our first task at Four Voices is to understand you and what you like, and we put a lot of energy into getting this right. How do we pick music for our ceremony? We’ll help. But you can start by going to our website to hear some samples for inspiration. You’ll hear us play and get some ideas for your own wedding. We can also provide our wedding sampler CD with over 30 pieces of music, both traditional wedding favorites and some unique selections as well. Get in touch with us and we’ll send you a copy. Can I make requests or custom music? We love requests. For a small fee, we will take any song (yes, any) and create a string version for your wedding. U2, Coldplay, R.E.M., we’ve done it all. As an extra, we also work with composers who will compose a piece for your day, which we will then prepare and perform during the wedding. If you wish, we can also make a studio recording, which is a great keepsake and a nice extra to incorporate into a wedding video. What parts of the ceremony are you typically involved in? As a general guide, we begin by playing twenty minutes of music while your guests are seated to help set the mood, and then play the processional, special music, recessional, and 10-15 minutes of postlude music while your guests are leaving. We can continue to play during the receiving line and cocktails. Do you play for cocktails or a reception? This is one of our favorite parts of playing....music to make a room sparkle, for people to kick back and enjoy themselves. After we've gotten to know you and your wedding style is emerging, we can talk about specific pieces to play, or moods to follow, or just read the room and let the party happen. We can play for both your ceremony and reception, or just the reception. Do you play outdoors? Yes, we do play outdoors. We require a tent (a 10 x 10 canopy is suitable) or to be in a spot with significant shade. Direct sunlight on our instruments can easily cause the varnish to soften and permanently damaged the instrument. Rain or mist of any kind will also prevent us from performing. In the spring and fall we suggest you have a heated enclosed space as we will not be able to play if the temperature falls below 65 degrees. Will you travel to locations outside of the Twin Cities? We regularly travel across the state of Minnesota, South Dakota and Wisconsin for weddings and receptions, and have played at other more distant destinations as well. The quartet travels in the metro area up to 30 miles from downtown Minneapolis for no extra charge. Please contact us for our fees for distances exceeding 30 miles. |
