The Birchwood String Quartet offers elegant classical music, current music you will reccognize from the radio as well as selections from many other traditions. Is there a list of songs to choose from?

We have an extensive repertoire much of which is cataloged on our Music pages. Selections are organized by composer, title and style. There is an additional list of our favorite wedding selections. You will find over 45 sound file links recorded by the quartet through out the music pages. We also really enjoy playing new and different music, so if you have a song in mind but don't see it on our music list, write to us to see if we can play it. If we can find the music, chances are good we can play it for you.

What type of attire is worn?

The quartet members all wear concert black. This is the type of formal black attire you would find orchestral musicians wearing.

What is the cost for the services provided? What is the deposit?

Every event is unique, please Contact us for pricing. Pricing is affected by length of performance time and location (travel fees apply only for locations more than 15 min. beyond the I 494-I 694 loop). Weddings start at $795 for 1.5 hours. Half of your total fee is the deposit that confirms your reservation. Major credit cards are accepted.

What are your qualifications?

Members of the Birchwood String Quartet hold music performance degrees from a variety of notable music schools with degrees ranging from bachelors to doctorates. In addition to their rigorous education, members of the BSQ have performed with world class local professional ensembles including the Minnesota Orchestra and St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, as well as a number of notable national groups; the St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra, Plymouth Philharmonic, the Chautauqua and Aspen Music Festivals. They have also shared the stage with such notable artists including Ray Charles, and Garrison Keillor. In depth Biographies are available on their web site.

What other things should I know about you?

As a group, the Birchwood String Quartet enjoys a varied and busy performance schedule. They are most frequently heard as a featured ensemble but have also enjoyed performing with other artists and groups such as vocalists, trumpets, choirs, small chamber groups and in recording projects. In addition to radio broadcast performances, the quartet also actively works with composers and arrangers, and in 2004 recorded a score of new music for a Cannes Film Festival entry.
