The Bright Stuff: Colorful Summer Wedding Inspiration + a Festive Cocktail Recipe

Show your true colors with pops of blues, pinks and whatever else suits your fancy.
From: Spring/Summer 2017 edition

For spring and summer 2017, Krista Ross, owner of Park Place Planning & Events, is looking on the bright side. “I’m starting to feel a shift in weddings from monochromatic tones to more color, so I embraced the change!” she says. For our spread, she sought a bright, summery feel, “but still very refined and elegant.” To do so, she used big, bold colors, anchoring them with plenty of white and classic details: “I’m so excited to see such vibrant pops of color coming out.”

1. Set the Tone

Wedding planner-turned-stationer Jill Elaine of Jill Elaine Designs knows how to get creative with paper goods, as evidenced by the custom watercolor monogram and illustration she created here. Her lively invitation suite is tied together with a hand-dyed ribbon from Shasta Bell Calligraphy.

2. Take the Cake

This clean, white cake by Farina Baking Co. gets a touch of whimsy from hand-crafted sugar flowers in shades of peach, yellow, pink and blue. “I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out,” says Ross.

3. Pretty in Pinks

Sisters Alexia and Emma Kelsey of Kindred Blooms used peonies, ranunculus and garden roses to create this playful bouquet. “It’s full, lush, rich, but not too serious,” says Ross.

4. Drink Up!

For a super-easy—and super-pretty—cocktail, try a raspberry spritzer. (Custom coasters by Jill Elaine Designs; glassware from Rudy’s Event Rentals.)

INGREDIENTS:

Equal parts raspberry lemonade

Equal parts champagne or prosecco

Frozen raspberries for garnish

Combine the raspberry lemonade and champagne or prosecco. To make the raspberry garnish, skewer the raspberries and freeze overnight. Not only do they look good, but they’ll keep the drink cold, too.

5. Accessorize This

Adorn yourself with stunning trimmings, like sparkling jewelry from Annika Bridal Boutique and gilded shoes by local designer Marion Parke.

6. Sophisticated Setting

Colorful glassware, flashy flatware and sparkling white plates from Rudy’s Event Rentals combine for a modern, charming place setting. Jill Elaine Designs created the menu to coordinate with the rest of the stationery suite.
