Loews Minneapolis Hotel (recently converted from Graves 601) opened the only champagne bar in Minneapolis last spring. It’s called Relevé, French for “lift,” since a perfect glass of bubbly has a way of doing just that.

“Champagne is such a signifier of celebration,” says hotel events manager Sarah McKee. A champagne bar is a perfect fit for the festivities surrounding a wedding, from the engagement party to the bachelorette party to the bridal shower to the rehearsal dinner. “It’s a great option for a bachelorette party that’s more of a luxurious celebration instead of a raunchy night out,” adds McKee.

In addition to an impressive list of champagnes, including many available by the glass, Relevé offers an array of small bites. Some are classic accompaniments to champagne, like oysters and pâté, while others are playful and unexpected, like truffle popcorn and walleye sliders.

Relevé also offers a variety of signature champagne cocktails, like “wistful thinking,” which includes Chambord, fresh citrus and two types of bubbly. A fun option for a wedding party is the interactive champagne bar, where guests can customize their flutes with an array of artisanal bitters, fresh fruit purées and liqueurs.

McKee also offers a Champagne 101 course, where you and your guests can learn about the history of champagne and other sparkling wines. You’ll also discover your favorite varietals and learn how to choose bottles with those characteristics. “Champagne can be an intimidating subject, but it should be fun,” says McKee. “There is nothing more appropriate for celebrations.” Relevé, Minneapolis, relevelounge.com
