A DIY Wedding Done Right
Blogs
Newlyweds Katie Marfori and Drew Orman had budget on the brain for their September 3rd wedding, as their final big day bill totaled less than $6,000. That's where some crafty hands joined forces for DIY done right. Good thing Katie had some help; her sister Jenna and sister-in-law Nikki are both the creative types. (Be sure to add Jenna and Nikki's blogs Eat Drink Pretty and Lovely Scribbles to your daily must-reads.)
Katie's wedding day, which mimicked a black and white picnic, was held at Schaar's Bluff in Hastings overlooking the Mississippi River. The couple made sure their guests were well fed–lemonade was provided for the ceremony, casual picnic food was catered by Green Mill for dinner and s'mores were roasted over a bonfire later in the night. In keeping with the DIY theme, Katie and Drew made their own programs, bouquets, place cards and much of the décor. Family got involved too: Katie's sister-in-law painted the cake toppers and Drew's dad created an interactive photo wall. Katie even wore her sister's wedding gown, adding a sash to make it her own. Now that's how to do a DIY wedding.
