Born explorers, Jessica and David have hiked more than half of Minnesota’s State Parks. Naturally they want to cross them all off the list eventually. Somehow, they were able to pick a favorite to exchange their vows: Temperance River State Park in Tofte, Minnesota. The delightfully quaint affair included only about 20 people, with many staying in the cabin they rented off Lake Superior’s North Shore. The couple entrusted their close friends and family with much of the wedding: the hair and makeup, officiation, coordinating, even grilling up the reception dinner. This is not to say it was ordinary. Jessica designed the invitations to emulate the park’s beautifully simplistic trail maps. The reception also included a build your own trail mix bar. Guests were encouraged to change back into jeans after the ceremony. A bluegrass band serenaded the party by bonfire light. Everything about this day was so creative, so curated, and above all, so quintessentially them. It’s this recipe which always makes for the best wedding celebrations.
